100 Hits Bonanza!

Zoinks, web readers!  Look what you did!

You…yes, you….helped me reach my new All-Time High for web hits in a single day.  I don’t know about you, but I think this calls for a Happy Dance.

Let's not forget Battlefield Earth now, shall we?

Nah, not like that…

I don't take these men to be the kind to "rumble," do you?

Ah!  Those leg extensions are too high…

I've had the time of my life!

Getting closer…

Was there anyone else out there who gouged their eyes out over this movie?!?

AHHHH!  A dancing Spiderman?!?  No WAY!

I'm singing, just singing in the rain!

Now, THAT’S more like it!

Who would have thought that a post on blizzards, Twinkie-burning radios, understudy assignments from Hell, and cookie escapades would have brought my blog to a new high?  I must be a very lucky blogger…or you all have some form of insanity…I’m willing to wager it’s a bit of both.

And, you know….I’m still so new to the world of blogging, and I’m fully aware that an all-time high count of 111 may be quite small, when you consider some of the blogs that have received a Freshly Pressed status.  Some lucky bloke received 1,473 hits…in one day (and it was well-deserved…read about it here).

But, regardless of what blog standards are for celebrations, I hereby pass out noise makers,  party hats, and Long Island Iced Teas to everyone who made today’s post such a big success.

I'm no longer a one-man wolf pack!

Now, put down your drinks for a moment while I recount my latest RAC

Although not a huge gesture on my part, Wednesday’s RAC merely took the form of a phone call to a friend I have not spoken with in over a month.  I’m a bad phone friend:  I rarely ever just pick up the phone to say hello, or to check up on someone.   I’m much better an email or text messaging…but again, these actions don’t bring me into direct contact with another person.  They’re a cop-out form of communication.

So, in an attempt to go outside of my comfort zone, I purposefully made myself dial my friend tonight, for the sole purpose of just saying hello…no plans were made, I did not require any favor of her…I just wanted to see how she was doing.

I think I shocked her as much as I shocked myself with the phone call.  It’s funny how people are surprised when they receive a random telephone call out of nowhere, for no specific reason.  Usually, you dial the phone for something….to order pizza, to pay a bill, to yell at Time Warner Cable, to gossip, to vote on Dancing with the Stars…really, how often do you pick up the phone to just talk with someone?

I’ve let myself become too content with Internet communication, and I am trying my best to reconnect with the world via the telephone and actual human contact (what’s that?!?!?).  It may not be a huge RAC, but it is a huge step for me.

Granted, there are people I speak to on the phone on a regular basis, but these individuals include The Mom…and not too many other people.  I’m not a phone talker, by any means.  But, I realize that at the age of 25, I need to be better with this skill.

GIDDY UP!

Thank you to all my readers/subscribers/Tweeters/Moms out there who got my blog to a new high today.  It may not look like much on a bar graph, but it means far more to me today than I could possibly say.  All I could ask if that once you finish up your Long Island Iced Teas, please help The Mom find her way to a taxi cab.  I’m definitely not letting her drive home tonight…

RAC #40:  Called a friend to merely say hello

Result:  shock and awe on both of our parts

  1. Hilarious posts.
Weird I define my life based on parts from movies too. I will remember a scene and reenact for the moment.
    Taking my prozac now!

  2. Of course you saved the best for last, a little Gene Kelly Singin In The Rain action! Love Donald O’Conner in that movie too. Sweetness.

    • Oh, no WAY that Travolta’s trumping Kelly. Gotta do a little tap dance to celebrate. I’ll leave the pelvic thrusts to Christian Bale in “Newsies” and Travolta in “Grease.”

Congratulations! 🙂 The little things (or the big things – like an all time high!) in life are the best things.

  5. Ohhh, congratulations on over 100 hits. That happens to me every time I post the Final Jeopardy question and answer. I figure that there are at least 100 brainiacs out there who are going to google it. I’m not sure if that’s cheating or not, since it’s not actually something original that I wrote, but I figure that it does provide a service…and that’s worth something.

    • Thanks, Bob! I’d say you get 100+ hits for your Jeopardy posts because of your other content…took a look at your site today, and I’m digging the post about playing Donkey Kong for hours on end.

Blogging in itself provides a great service: a creative writing outlet, a place to make new friends, and a library of topics that span from Jeopardy to Nintendo to brick-sized cell phones. It’s all worth it in the end!
